LAHORE, Pakistan: The Punjab police on Thursday registered a First Information Report (FIR) against 21 persons including Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and the Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif in the Model Town firing case.

One June 17, at least 11 supporters of the Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) were killed and over 100 people were injured in a police crackdown in Lahore’s Model Town.

The FIR was registered under sections 419, 148, 234, 302 and 109 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, pertaining to murder, attempt of murder and terrorism.

However, the PAT leader Dr Tahirul Qadri has rejected the FIR, saying the case has not been registered under the sections of anti-terrorism act.
