ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The import of mobile phones in to the country increased by 7.91 percent during first half of current fiscal year (2015-16) as compare to same period last year.

The import of mobile phones during the corresponding period was recorded at US $375.063 million as against that of $347.564 million in first six months (July-December) of current fiscal year.

   

On month-on-month and year-on-year basis the import in December, 2015 also witnessed an increase of 3.1 percent and 4.06 percent when compared with the imports during November, 2015 and December 2014 respectively.

According to data revealed by Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), the mobile phone import increased from $65.292 million in November 2015 and $64.689 million in December, 2014 to $67.315 million in December, 2015.

The overall telecom import, however decreased by 7.43 percent during first six months of current fiscal year as compared to same period of last as it went down from $751.124 million last year to $695.334 million this year.

On month-on-month and year-on-year basis the telecom import in December, 2015 increased by 1.87 percent in November, 2015 and 7.19 percent in December 2014.

The telecom import increased from $122.015 million in November, 2014 and $115.958 million in December, 2014 to $124.301 million in December 2015.
