ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Prime Minister’s Advisor on Interior and Accountability Mirza Shahzad Akbar has tendered his resignation from the post.

“I have tendered my resignation today to PM as Advisor. I sincerely hope the process of accountability continues under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan as per PTI’s manifesto. I will remain associated with the party and keep contributing as member of legal fraternity,” the advisor wrote on Twitter.

   

Sources privy to the development claimed that Prime Minister Imran Khan wasn’t satisfied with the performance of Shahzad Akbar, and voiced his displeasure on the accountably process.

However, the Prime Minister’s Special Assistant for Political Communication Dr Shahbaz Gill had earlier brushed aside the above claims by the sources, termed them as rumours.

In response to Shahzad Akbar’s resignation, the Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain wrote on Twitter “You worked under tremendous pressure, it was never easy to take on Mafias but the way you worked and handled cases is admirable, more important work is now awaiting you Inshallah..”
