ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The National Assembly was informed on Wednesday that Military Courts has so far awarded 284 death sentences to militants, out of whom 56 have been executed.

In a written reply submitted by the Minister for Defence Pervez Khattak in reply to a question by the member of National Assembly from North Waziristan Mohsin Dawar, he said that the Ministry of Interior approved 717 Cases for trial in Military Courts.

Pervez Khattak told that 478 Cases were finalized while 54 Cases were dropped due to technical reasons.

The minister said that Military Courts sentenced 284 militants to death. He further said that as per the judgement by Military Courts, 56 militants have so far been executed.

In addition, Pervez Khattak said that Military Courts also awarded 192 various rigorous imprisonment to militants while acquitted two persons.

The defence minister said that 185 Cases are under process in Military Courts.
