CAIRO: At least 24 Egyptian policemen were killed in a suspected militant ambush on Monday near the North Sinai town of Rafah, authorities said.

According to reports, the officers were traveling in two buses when unknown armed men attacked them.

   

Attacks by Islamist militants in the lawless north Sinai region have intensified since the army overthrew Islamist President Mohamed Mursi on July 3.
