Saudi crown prince to visit Pakistan on Saturday

ISLAMABAD: The Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud arrived in Islamabad on Saturday on a three-day visit on the invitation of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

The crown prince, accompanied by a high level delegation including trade‚ economy and planning ministers,was greeted at PAF Airbase by the prime minister‚ members of the federal cabinet and services chiefs.

The Foreign Office Spokesperson Tasnim Aslam said that the Saudi crown prince’s visit is of special significance since it is his first visit to Pakistan after assuming this position.

During his visit, the crown prince will hold talks with President Mamnoon Hussain and the prime minister on bilateral and international matters of mutual interest, the spokesperson said.

The spokesperson said this visit will give a new impetus to the existing fraternal bonds between the two countries and it will provide a good opportunity to explore ways and means for further strengthening cooperation in diverse areas of mutual interest particularly in expanding and enhancing investments and trade.

Aslam said that the two countries will also discuss ways to increase export of Pakistani manpower to Saudi Arabia and to facilitate the Pakistani community residing in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The Saudi crown prince will also discuss regional situation especially the Afghan issue with the Pakistani leadership, she added.

In reply to a question, the spokesperson said that said Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are not cooperating in nuclear technology in any way. The spokesperson categorically stated that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia will not discuss nuclear cooperation in the upcoming visit of the Saudi Crown Prince.
