ANKARA: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was conferred with highest Turkish Civil Award Republic Order in Ankara on Tuesday.

Turkish President Abdullah Gul conferred upon him the award at a special investiture ceremony at the presidential palace.

Speaking on the occasion‚ the Turkish president paid rich tributes to the prime minister for his contribution to bring further close the two countries. He said Pakistan and Turkey enjoy very cordial relations and expressed the confidence that these will touch new heights in the years to come.

In his remarks‚ Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif thanked the Turkish president for conferring the highest award on him and said it is a testimony to the unique relations that thrives in the hearts of our two peoples.

The Prime Minister said both the countries need to work continuously towards exploring new vistas of cooperation in different fields.

Nawaz Sharif he will work closely with the Turkish leadership in the years to come for collective good of the two peoples.
