Egypt’s Morsi to face trial on January 28 over jailbreak

CAIRO: Egypt’s ousted president Mohamed Morsi will face a new trial on January 28 on charges of organising prison breaks with the help of foreign militants during the 2011 uprising against former dictator Hosni Mubarak.

The date for the new trial of Morsi was set by the Cairo Appeals Court on Thursday.

Morsi has also been charged in connection with the killing of protesters and collaborating with Hamas and Hezbollah to carry out a terrorist conspiracy against Egypt. He could face the death penalty over such charges.
