Egyptian court sentences Hosni Mubarak to three years in prison

CAIRO: An Egyptian court on Wednesday convicted the country’s ousted President Hosni Mubarak of embezzlement and sentenced him to three years in prison.

His two sons Gamal and Alaa were also convicted of graft and sentenced to four years in prison each in the same case.

The 86-year-old Mubarak, whose nearly three-decade rule came to an end during the 2011 popular uprising, has been under house arrest at a military hospital since August last year.
