BETHLEHEM: A bus carrying Palestinian pilgrims turned over on the Dead Sea road near Jordan’s al-Rama neighborhood on Saturday that left 14 pilgrims dead and five others critically injured, the Amman-based daily al-Ghad reported.

The sources in Jordan’s Public Security Directorate said that the bus, carrying Palestinian pilgrims who performed the Umrah pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia, turned over after it collided with a truck and a small car.

In the incident, 14 pilgrims were killed while the truck driver also lost his life.

Palestinian religious affairs minister Mahmoud al-Habbash confirmed that a bus carrying pilgrims turned over en route to Jordan’s King Hussein Bridge crossing. “We are contacting Jordanian officials for specific details,” he said.
