KARACHI: Another Pakistani actress has started legal proceedings after being targeted by a troll on social media, days after self-fashioned geostrategic analyst Major (r) Adil Raja linked top actresses and models with the establishment for enticing politicians.

Following the allegations, Mehwish, awarded Tamgha-e-Imtiaz for her contribution to art, filed a petition in Sindh High Court, seeking stern action against trolls and political activists running a smear campaign against her on social sites.

The Load Wedding star was among the top celebrities allegedly linked with the the country’s robust quarter.

Now, Mehwish Hayat has trodden in the footsteps of her fellow, and she has filed a petition in the high court through advocate Khawaja Naveed Ahmed.

Praying before the court for action, the actor said that the lewd claims aimed to tarnish her reputation by a group of people she termed ‘mentally sick’.

She demanded the court take strict legal action against all malefactors behind the campaign. She also apprised the court about FIA Cybercrime Wing being toothless in the case, mentioning that no action was taken on her application.

Mehwish Hayat also pleaded with the court to order the removal of offensive content against her on social media, saying it affects her personally.
The Punjab Nahi Jaungi star moved court, following fellow star Kubra Khan, who sued Adil Raja for grim allegations.

Mehwish slams Raja for ‘Gutter Journalism’

Mehwish moved court days after sharing two cents on Adil Raja publicly.

She said people stoop too low just for cheap fame, saying ‘just because I am an actress doesn’t mean my name can be dragged through the mud…Shame on you for spreading false allegations and insinuations about someone you know nothing about, and even bigger shame on people who blindly believe in his bullshit’.

‘I feel disgusted about the mindset of society, and it just shows the sickness of our society that laps up this gutter of journalism without any thought’, warning not to allow anyone to defame her name in this way anymore.

It all started as Adil Raja, a former military officer turned YouTuber – who is now living in self-imposed exile in the United Kingdom, claimed that actors were used as ‘seductive spies’ to blackmail statesmen.
