ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on Information and Broadcasting Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan has said that the welfare of journalists and media workers is among priorities of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-led incumbent government.

Talking to representatives of All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS), the Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors (CPNE), and the Pakistan Broadcasters Association (PBA) in Islamabad, she said that the government will continue providing all possible facilities for promotion of independent and responsible media.

The special assistant said that the PTI government fully believes in the basic democratic right of freedom of expression. She said that freedom of media and democracy are complementary to each other.

Firdous Ashiq Awan said that resolution of the problems attached with the media industry is our top priority.

Dr. Firdous said that Prime Minister Imran Khan has given clear directions for payment of the outstanding amount of media houses. She said that there should not be any delay in payment of the dues.

The special assistant said that journalists and media are playing the role of vanguard in the fight against Coronavirus.
