Islamabad, Pakistan: “The country is going through the phase of new elections and the situation demands that despite all the political and ideological differences, a way should be found together for the solution of the country’s problems by staying within the circle of culture and literature,”.
This was desired by the Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Murtaza Solangi while speaking at a Book launching ceremony. The book “The Lost Papers of Pakistan’s History” containing the memories of Dr. Farooq Adil, a well-known writer and journalist of the country, was launched here on Monday at the Allama Iqbal Open University.
The Federal Minister stressed the need to sit down and discuss the country’s issues and said that Pakistan’s state broadcasters Radio Pakistan and PTV would be helpful in highlighting the basic issues.
He said that nations who do not learn from history suffer. He said that determining responsible journalism is very important in the present era.
The Turkish Cultural Center Yunus Emre Institute and Allama Iqbal Open University launched the book.
The book launch event was jointly organized by the Department of History and Yunus Emre Institute. Speaking on this occasion, the vice-chancellor of the university, Professor Dr. Nasir Mehmood, introduced the university and said that this university started its educational services in 1976. To date, 46 lakh students have graduated from this university, who are from all over the country. They are serving in important positions in all departments.
The Vice-Chancellor said that this university has 53 regional offices across the country and the number of students is more than one million. Dr. Nasir Mahmood said that next year is the 50th anniversary of this university. He said that we are going to celebrate the golden jubilee of the university in a grand manner, and seminars/conferences and such educational gatherings will be organized throughout the year.
Director of Yunus Emre Institute, Prof. Dr. Khalil Toqar while addressing said that Pakistan and Turkey have established long-standing, cordial, and deep relations and to transfer these relations to the new generation, Turkey has established three Yunus Emre Institutes in Pakistan, one of which has been established in Allama Iqbal Open University. He said that Turkey and Pakistan are one and the same. Both countries have helped each other in every difficult time in the past.
Dr. Farooq Adil, presenting the background of his book, said that to write about the history of Pakistan. He was contacted by the BBC and said that we want the history that has been hidden from us.
Dr. Farooq narrated a statement from his father that if Quaid-e-Azam and Iqbal were alive today, they would surely be in jail and this thought Couldn’t get out of the cast, due to which he decided to record the behind-the-scenes events and wrote this book. Other speakers who gave feedback on the book included Fateh Muhammad Malik, Abdul Jabbar Mirza, Khurshid Nadeem, and Muhammad Hameed Shahid. Head of the Department of History, Dr. Kishore Sultana, and teacher, Dr. Abdul Basit Mujahid hosted the event.
