Monitoring Desk: “The Global South reclaiming intellectual space and the time has gone when the non-Western perspective was ignored. Cities like Zürich, Warsaw, Minsk, and Budapest would surely be remembered for their role in making and breaking countries through dialogues but the shift has already taken place in favor of today’s Global South. The recent World Economic Forum meeting in Saudi Arabia, the 6th World Forum of Intercultural Dialogue in Azerbaijan, the 18th G20 Summit, and BRICS meetings can be seen as the “truth of the 21st century”.
This was observed in an article published in Express Tribune titled “Global South reclaiming intellectual space” in which the writer adds World Forum of Intercultural Dialogue is offering cross-cultural and cross-disciplinary deliberations by huddling experts, heads of state, media persons, policymakers, academicians, and practitioners in last 13 years.
The writer believes that Azerbaijan is the pioneer and the leader in providing different platforms for scientific research, international relations, interfaith harmony, academic discussions, and global deliberations aiming to make this world a better and more tolerant place for generations to come.
The writer Shazia Anwer Cheema also indicates that not only that the non-Western perspectives are getting heard but some countries of the Global South are now leading funding to other countries of the Global South as Brazil is becoming the biggest donor for Global South; the Saudi Fund for Development is offering huge support for poverty reduction in Global South; UAE’s Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation and Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation are providing notable service; and China’s contribution to the Global South’s economy, which evolved from its firm belief in integrity, mutual respect and win-win cooperation, is also well-known. She is of the view that the Global South is the foremost reality of the 21st century and the Global North must accept this truth and join hands with the Global South instead of ordering the Global South what should be done and what must not be done.
