Monitoring Desk: Senior journalist and anchorperson Iftikhar Ahmed has been honored with the ‘Pakistan Civil Awards’ on citizens of   Pakistan for his 40 years plus service in journalism in the country.

The Investiture ceremony for these awards will take place on Pakistan Day, 23rd March. Iftikhar Ahmed is awarded “TAMGHA-I-IMTIAZ”. It may be mentioned his maternal grandfather Maulana Hifzur Rehman had already been awarded for his services in the fields of literature, anthropology, and archeology.

Iftikhar Ahmed joined journalism in the early 80s and since then he is leading an active journalistic life and anchored one of the top popular Current Affairs shows in Pakistan “Jawabdeyh” for several years. He had worked in the Jang group of publications as a director before joining Dunya Television and now he is in Saama Television. He is a pioneer of “Election Cell” journalism in Pakistan by introducing election cell journalism before the 1988 General elections. His son Hasan Iftikhar and young brother Agha Iqrar Haroon are also journalists.
