LAHORE, Pakistan: The security instructions regarding implementation of security standard operating procedures (SOPs) have been issued to the media houses with regard to the current security situation in the country, threatening letters by the outlawed organizations and after an attack at the office of a private TV channel in Faisalabad.

A memo has also been issued to Directorate General Public Relations Punjab and all media houses to implement security measures to avoid any untoward situation and maintain peace, DIG Operations Dr Haider said.

According to the memo, boundary walls length of media houses should be not less than 8 feet attach with barbed wires, CCTV cameras with video recording facility be install in offices with back up generator system while entry and exit points be minimized and an emergency exit way should be set up.

The person entering the office should be properly checked through metal detector and his name be entered in register book, however the security guards be recruited after thorough verification by the special branch and their complete records be maintained, the DIG added.

He said that security guards deployed at media houses should get training and the city police has organized a training session for the security guards in this regard.

The contact numbers of office administration should be displayed in office at various places, walk through gates be establish, use of metal detector, vehicles entering the office be checked through bottom wave mirror, concrete barriers be set up, emergency panic button should be ensured.
