Islamabad, Pakistan: Parliamentary Reporters Association has decided to move to NAB for forensic audit of Nawa-e-Waqt Group.
According to details, Parliamentary Reporters Association (PRA) of Pakistan decided Thursday to contact National Accountability Bureau (NAB), a supreme anti-corruption body of Pakistan for forensic audit of of Nawa-e-Waqt Group of publications and other media houses of Pakistan.
Owning to grave financial situation being faced by journalists of Pakistan, Parliamentary Reporters Association (PRA) of Pakistan also decided to move to courts of justice against media owners who are not providing salaries to their employees.
According to decisions taken in monthly meeting of PRA chaired by its President of Parliamentary Reporters Association Behzad Saleemi here on Thursday, August 29, 2019.
PRA office bearers were of the view that Journalists working in Nawa-e-Waqt Group are facing economic purge and Chief Executive Officer Rameeza Majid Nizami was not responding to the gravity of the situation.
PRA said situation was similar in several media houses but situation was extremely grave in Nawa-e-Waqt Group which runs a number of publications including daily Nawa-e-Waqt and daily The Nation newspapers.
PRA also reviewed the letter sent by employees of Nawa-e-Waqt Group to its Chief Executive Officer Rameeza Majid Nizami which did not get any answer from her.
The letter said that children of employees are risk of being expelled from schools and those intending to get their children admitted to schools have no money to pay the fee or purchase books for them.
PRA in its meeting stated that government had released pending dues of different media houses including the Nawa-e-Waqt Group on the promise from owners that they would pay the outstanding salaries and dues of their employees.
It was also noted that over Rs200 million was released by government to the Nawa-e-Waqt Group on the condition that the owner, Rameeza will pay salaries on the first instance. However, after receiving the cheque, Rameeza did not release even a single month salary to the employees, who are in hundreds in number in the Islamabad office alone.
