ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Journalist and Bol News Islamabad Bureau Chief Siddique Jan has been arrested from Islamabad on Monday night.

Siddique Jan was arrested from outside the outside Bol Headquarters.

The video of his arrest shows that Islamabad police was also accompanied by a few people in plain cloth when they took the journalist into custody.

It’s worth noting that the Islamabad High Court (IHC) earlier in the day had stopped the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) from arresting and harassing Siddique Jan.

Siddique Jan is a Court Reporter and prior to joining Bol News, he also worked for 92 News. He also runs a YouTube Channels with nearly 600,000 Subscribers.

Meanwhile, the National Press Club (NPC) in Islamabad strongly condemned the arrest of Siddique Jan and asked the government to adopt the democratic path and not to strangulate the dissenting voices.Journalist Siddique Jan arrested in IslamabadFollowing the incident, journalists took to Twitter and condemned the arrest in strongest terms, saying that restrictions on freedom of expression are old tactics.

Earlier in March 2023, the Co-Chairman of BOL TV and Axact Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Shoaib Ahmed Sheikh was also arrested from Islamabad Airport on charges of bribing the Additional District and Sessions Judge (ADSJ) Pervez-ul-Qadir Memon for his acquittal in the Axact Fake Degrees Case.
