Geo dragging government in arena against Pakistan Army

HeadlinesGeo dragging government in arena against Pakistan Army

PEMRA committee’s decision regarding Geo to be final: RasheedIslamabad: Geo is apparently dragging government in arena against Pakistan Army. “Information Minister Senator Pervaiz Rashid remained physically present in his office till 02:20 hours to make it a point that no closure order was issued in any case. The source said that while leaving his office, he told the concerned officials that if the channel was shut down by next day morning, he would deal with them sternly. The obvious underlying reason for not taking the extreme action against the network is not to interfere with the freedom of the press and expression in any way,” he said”, writes Tariq Butt in The News today and indicates that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his whole team is standing with Jang Group of Publication. There are many news items in The News, Jang and other component newspapers today that have a clear line— Nawaz is with Jang but getting weaker and weaker against Pakistan Army that according to Jang Group is hell bent to close down Geo Television. Jang Group is now dragging Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif into arena in its contra with Pakistan Army. Geo Television is almost out from cable system of Pakistan after incident that took place in a morning show of Geo transmission that incident has been considered as blasphemous act by majority of the cable operators. Geo TV has apologized over this incident but Maafi (pardon) looks impossible.

Political observers believe that more dragging of PML(N) into this affairs by Jang Group can backfire and Information Minister and the Prime Minister who have soft corner for Jang Group may refrain from standing with Jang against Pakistan Army.
