ISLAMABAD: A local court in Islamabad on Saturday while hearing the petition of a citizen ordered to register a case against the management of Geo Television Network over airing a blasphemous program.

The additional session judge Islamabad Raja Jahangir Awan directed the Margalla police to register a case against Mir Shakeel ur Rehman, program “Utho Jago Pakistan” host Shaista Lodhi, Veena Malik and Asad Bashir Khattak.

The court ordered to add section 295-A, 295-C, 298-A of blasphemy law along with the terrorism section 7-ATA.

On Wednesday, an episode of the famous Geo Entertainment morning show ‘Utho Jago Pakistan’ contained blasphemous content that later prompted widespread condemnation and criticism.
