MediaAIOU to hold national media conference early next year

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) would organise a national conference early next year for developing media-academia collaboration.

The conference themed “Media in post modern time” would help promote community-based research study besides introducing new innovations in social sector relevant to society’s overall development.

Addressing a get-to-gather of academic staff, department of Social Sciences, Vice Chancellor AIOU Prof. Dr. Shahid Siddiqui said it will be first-ever media conference, being organized at the University’s level for addressing community-related problems through joint efforts.

Media practitioners and working journalists from print, electronic and social media will be invited for seeking their professional input to achieve the goal of social development through joint efforts.

Dr. Shahid Siddiqui said the media in the recent years has emerged as most strong social institution that could help educational institutions to disseminate their research findings among the relevant quarters for the society’s benefit. AIOU, he said wanted to promote its basic role, creating and constructing knowledge through research, with the support of relevant institutions, particularly the media, said a press release.

The media conference is likely to take place in March next. It will be organized by the department of Mass Communication.

The function, was also addressed by the Dean Faculty of Social Sciences Dr. Syed Abdul Siraj and the event-manager Dr. Amir Shah. VC also distributed shields among the officers and staff members who had an active role in making the recently held national conference on social sciences successful.
