MediaAfghanistan becomes again launching pad for international terror groups including Al-Qaeda, reports...

Monitoring Desk: A special report aired by state-run television of Pakistan–PTV News; while citing international reports indicates that terror organizations like Al-Qaeda not only have safe havens inside Afghanistan rather they are also funded by the Interim government of Afghanistan.

The report also indicates that terrorists are free to plan attacks inside Pakistan from Afghan soil and bordering Tajikistan is also under threat.

Citing different international reports including an alarming report titled “Two Years Under the Taliban: Is Afghanistan a Terrorist Safe Haven Once Again?”, the special report of PTV News stated that al-Qaeda, the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), and a number of Central Asian jihadis are active inside Afghanistan and are threat for neighboring countries like Pakistan and Tajikistan.

The report said that the TTP with a presence of thousands of fighters across eastern Afghanistan vigorously expanded and escalated its operations against Pakistan, killing hundreds of Pakistani security forces personnel and even some civilians. The group appeared to be easily marshaling material resources, from weapons to recruits, from its safe havens in Afghanistan, including some Afghan Taliban fighters.

It is pertinent to mention that several international reports that appeared since May 2023 believe that Central Asian jihadis under the banner of Jamaat Ansarullah are attempting regularly cross-border infiltration and attacks inside Central Asian states and the Taliban also do not restrict the movements of these militants inside the country. Moreover, the Taliban provide welfare payments and access to weaponry and ammunition to allied groups, among other forms of material support”, claimed the reports.

Meanwhile, another report by the Center for Preventive Action titled “Instability in Afghanistan” published on August 17, 2023, stated that in May 2023, the Taliban agreed to work with Pakistan on improving security along their shared border, which militants freely traverse but things are otherwise and terrorists are free to attack Pakistan from Afghan soil.

It is pertinent to mention that Pakistan is constantly under stack from Afghan soil and Pakistan has been asking the Interim Afghan government to take action against terrorists using Afghan soil to destabilize neighboring countries including Pakistan. However, the Afghan Interim government is still under the phase of denial claiming that terrorists are not using its soil to attack any neighboring country.
