MediaACFJ offers fellowship to Pakistani journalists

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Konrad Adenauer Asian Center for Journalism (ACFJ) at the Ateneo de Manila University offers fellowships to Asian countries including Pakistan for doing M.A. in journalism.

Asian journalists with a strong commitment to journalism, leadership qualities and an excellent professional and academic record can apply for the fellowship, said a press release.

The program accepts about 20 students from various Asian countries each year. As of 2013, more than 100 journalists from Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Uzbekistan, and Vietnam have enrolled.

Designed for working journalists, the programme is a hybrid distance learning course. Online class sessions take place via the learning management system Blackboard. Classroom sessions are held at the Ateneo de Manila University’s Loyola campus in Quezon City, Philippines.

Ideal candidates are journalists who can demonstrate excellence in their work and are contributing in a significant way to the press in their own societies.

Full grants cover tuition, books, travel (international and domestic) and living expenses for the on-campus sessions. Other forms of support are available to senior journalists, teachers and part-time working journalists.

The deadline is January 15, 2016.
