ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: In the last three years, 61 persons were hired and appointed in the Pakistan Television Corporation (PTVC) while services of 38 persons were terminated, the Senate was told.

In a written reply to a question by Senator Bahramand Khan Tangi seeking details in this regard, the Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain apprised the House on Wednesday that Electronic Media is a dynamic 24/7 industry with the high pace of changes in features, contents, and technology which creates an impact on screen being co-related with its viewership.

The minister told that as such in order to cope up the exigency of work and compete with the private broadcast media, a total number of 61 persons were hired/engaged/appointed in PTVC from July 1, 2018 to June 30, 2021.

Chaudhry Fawad Hussain told that during the last three years, 7 Anchors, 12 Professionals, 37 Contractual Employees, 3 Daily Wagers, 1 Resource Person, and 1 Coordinator were hired in PTV.

The House was further told that in PTV during the said period, services of 10 persons were terminated for possessing fake/bogus degrees and 8 for poor performance while 20 employees were terminated as a result of disciplinary action.
