ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: President Mamnoon Hussain on Wednesday called upon South Asian Countries to sink their differences and forge cooperation to overcome major challenges confronting the region.

While speaking at the inaugural ceremony of three-day South Asian Conference on Sanitation in Islamabad, the president said South Asian Countries could achieve greater successes in the sanitation sector through mutual cooperation and collaboration.

Mamnoon Hussain told the participants that Pakistan vigorously implemented a strategy and as a consequence sanitation facility was now available to two third families. He said similar successes were also achieved by Sri Lanka and Maldives.

The president improved health and sanitation would also attract foreign investment in the region.

President Mamnoon asked the Ministry of Climate Change to prepare a comprehensive package to ensure provision of best possible water and sanitation services to every home in the Country. He also called for consultations with the provinces to make the strategy more effective and meaningful.

Talking about China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), he said the project CPEC would help connect the region, paving way for provision of international standard facilities of life to the people.

The president expressed the confidence that the South Asian Conference on Sanitation would serve as a platform for exchange of ideas and best practices.
