Majid Nizami laid to rest Lahore, Pakistan: Majid Nizami was laid to rest in Lahore after his Namaz e Janaza was offered at Bagh – i – Jinnah at 9 am today.
He was born on April 3, 1928 and passed away on July 26 2014 in Lahore. He was in critical condition and was admitted to hospital. Majid Nizami was the chief editor of Nida – i -Milat and its subsidiaries like The Nation, Nawa – I – Waqt and Waqt Tv
He is survived by his adopted daughter, Rameeza Majid Nizami. Amongst the bereaved are members of staff and the family of the Nawa-i-Waqt Group, in whose service he gave so much of his life.
His outspoken journalism brought him into direct conflict and victimization by almost all the subsequent regimes in Pakistan. In spite of immense pressures, he strove to maintain an independent stance as far as his newspaper was concerned.
