KARACHI: A senior police officer was critically injured on Friday when his vehicle was fired upon in Karachi’s Lines Area.

Officials said the attackers in two vehicles chased after SP Crime Brach Maqsood Malik’s car when he left his office. The miscreants intercepted the car in Lines Area and fired shots on it, police said.

Malik was critically injured in the firing and received four bullets. He was under treatment in Jinnah hospital.

Police said it was targeted attack to assassinate a key police officer of the Crime Branch, in a way hundreds of other policemen have so far been eliminated.
