KARACHI: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) on Wednesday decided to suspend cellphone services in various cities across the country including Islamabad on 9th and 10th Muharram-ul-Haram.

Those cities in Punjab which will face blockage of mobile phone services on 9th and 10th Muharram include Lahore, Sargodha, Rawalpindi, Jhang, Faisalabad, Attock, Multan, Rahim Yar Khan, Gujranwala, Nankana Saahab, Bhakkar, Dera Ghazi Khan, Muzaffargarh and Pakpatan.

In Sindh, Karachi, Hyderabad, Khairpur, Sukkur, Sehwan and  Larkana will face suspension of mobile phone services.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, mobile phone services will be blocked in Kohat, Astarzai, Hangu, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Dera Ismail Khan, Tank, Mansehra and Haripur.

The mobile phone services will also be blocked in the cities of Azad Kashmir which include Muzaffarabad, Neelum, Rawalakot, Kotli and Mirpur.

Mobile phone services are likely to be blocked from 6 to 8 hours on 9th and 10th Muharram.
