HeadlinesIndian-made weapons recovered from MQM office in Karachi: Rangers

KARACHI: Sindh Rangers on Tuesday recovered Indian-made weapons from the office of a political party in Karachi.

“Indian made weapons have been recovered from the office of the political party,” said the spokesman of Sindh Rangers in a statement in an obvious reference to Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM).

The Rangers spokesman said that the recovery of Indian-made arms proves presence of anti-state elements in the country, adding that the party should explain the presence of these weapons in their office.

Earlier in the day, the member of the MQM Rabita Committee, Dr Saghir Ahmad, said in a press conference that offices of its elected representatives are being raided under a so-called operation in Karachi.

Dr Saghir said that in Landhi Sector this evening 15 party workers were arrested in addition to ransacking of a local MQM office. The MQM activists and supporters are released after torture while terrorists are given chance to flee the country, he added.

The MQM Rabita Committee member said his party would raise its voice at every level against this unfair treatment.
