“It is a razor’s edge to learn how to love deeply and, yet, to cling lightly to what we love — knowing that the more identified we are with what we would hold closely to our breast, the more we must cry when life runs through its inevitable course. All the losses we suffer either further teach us this Lesson of Lessons, or we deny its truth and, in so doing, condemn ourselves to suffer the necessary consequences.”
It’s been a few days since Islamabad District court was targeted but when I came to know about this young lady Fizza Malik I couldn’t resist myself from blogging about her. Fizza Malik was just 23 years old who recently had graduated and applied for her license to practice law but sadly did not live long enough to see it arrive in the mail. She was really excited about getting accepted for LLM in the United Kingdom and was supposed to go abroad for her further studies during the summer 2014 but now we are just left with a deep grief over her death. Fizza wasn’t any other creature but a human like us, having dreams, hopes, aspirations and full of wonder for the future. While talking to a few of her close friends I came to know how passionate and dedicated she was to her field.
Fizza started working at a very early age as she was quite passionate about her career. She overcomes every hurdle that a woman has to face in our society. Living in a country like Pakistan her parents had so much faith and confidence in her that they let her go where ever she wanted to and Fizza never let parents down. Fizza was truly an inspiration because she was so determined and patriotic that she wanted to practice law in Pakistan in such circumstances when everyone is trying to escape from this holy land of sanctity peace and purity. Getting deeper into the victim’s story I observed that, with a beautiful personality she was also a brilliant students who always achieved high merits. One of her close friend told me about that she had a lot of things to do in life and her life didn’t even started as she had so much in her mind to do. Of course every such person has bigger dreams and a lot to achieve but I feel so sad for the poor departed soul that none of her dream came true neither she was able to make a change. A girl with an amazing potential who had just climbed the first step of the ladder with an honest vision was so easily eliminated from the society.
I also learnt from her friends that she was a very jolly personality and down to earth. With her humbleness she had always been helpful to people around her. No matter how busy she was with her stuff, she always stayed in touch with her friends. She was fun loving, outgoing, generous and had always being source of inspiration for her friends. Close friends of Fizza still don’t accept the reality that she’s gone and no longer walks amongst them. They just can’t believe that they won’t be able to hear her laughter on the other end of the line, or her wisdom when they were down. All of them need a lot of time to overcome this loss. And yes this is the reality that she became a victim of some barbaric forgotten brothers of our society as claimed by the majority.
But then again so what? Do her parents care? Not really, all they care about, as selfish as they can be, is about their daughter. They don’t care about your political or religious views, they don’t care that for some pseudo-intellectuals she was a necessary causality, they just want to see their daughter’s smiling face, to hold her once more in their arms and tell her how she meant the world to them. To possibly even see her in a wedding dress walking down the aisle, to one day be able to hear the cry of their infant grandchildren giving life to their old bones, yet in reality this is albeit a dream now that Fizza is gone. Her parents are broken and no matter what anyone says or does now, they have a void in their lives that just can’t ever be filled. Does anyone care that a daughter no longer will be the joy to her parents anymore? Does anyone care that Fizza was a human being with dreams? Does anyone care that every life is precious? Does anyone care at all anymore?
Now her friend won’t be able to see her online or typing on whats app.
