ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The sad demise of renowned Chef and Pakistan’s Television personality Zubaida Apa (Original name Zubaida Tariq) on Friday was condoled by the literary personalities and artists of the Country.

Zubaida Apa breathed her last on Thursday night after brief illness at the age of 72.

Talking to the state-run news agency, Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL) Chairman Professor Dr Muhammad Qasim Bughio said that the death of Zubaida Apa left an irreparable loss of the Country. He said that he was deeply saddened by the news of passing away of renowned chef and a great human being Zubaida Apa.

Executive Director Lok Virsa Dr Fouzia Saeed also expressed grief and sorrow over the demise of Zubaida Apa. She said that her (Zubaida) contribution as Chef will be remembered for long.

Paying tribute, Director General Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) Syed Jamal Shah also prayed for the rest of the departed soul in eternal peace.

Folk Singers Laila Jutti, Imran Ghulam Ali Khan, Waqar Azeem, Muhammad Azeem Khan, Sunainah, Hassina Khan, Gulab Khel and others also expressed grief and sorrow over the demise of Zubaida Apa.

Born into an educated family of Hyderabad Deccan in 1945, Zubaida was youngest of nine siblings which include late playwright Fatima Surraya Bajiya and noted satirist Anwer Maqsood.

The family sailed to Karachi on September 18, 1948, immediately after the fall of the Hyderabad state, which was invaded by the Indian army on September 11.

Zubaida Tariq was famous for her handy culinary and housekeeping hints and gave credit of her skills to having grown up in a joint family.

Zubaida Tariq’s recipes were not just famous in Pakistan but they were admired throughout the world.
