PESHAWAR, Pakistan: The Tourism Corporation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (TCKP) is organizing the biggest Artisans at Work Festival named “Huner Mela” on May 5, 6 and 7, 2017 for families only at PIA Planetarium in Hayatabad, Peshawar.
The three-day Huner Mela aims to provide opportunity to artisans of different crafts for displaying their skills.
In its last edition in 2016 it was termed a commendable endeavor by the visitors for conserving the withering arts of Peshawar, once known as ‘Hub of Artisans.’
The TCKP is of the opinion that the upcoming Huner Mela 2017 would bear positive results and revive a number of crafts and trades that were once booming in the region but are now receding into oblivion owing to lack of patronage.
The samples of Wood Carving (Swat), Metal Work, Wax Printing, Stone Carving, Bannu Khaddi, Taghar Work, Embroidery Lacquer Art, Peshawar Handicraft, Shaari Khaddi, Swati Shawl, Phulkari Charsada Cappal, Charsada Khaddar, Swati Khaddi, Quroshia Work, Gabay Work, Hazara Phulkari, Moti Work, Hazara Jisti Shawal, Lohar Pottery Work, Parunay Dandas, Sarkha Karawa Work, Maizaray Work, Sarghashay, Drooza Chappal, Gandhara Art, Chitrali Patti and Sitar Making will be displayed at the Mela along with Mega Musical Concerts and Fireworks.
