ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA) 36-member folk artists troupe will accompany Pakistan Railways Special Azadi Train-2017.
The troupe comprising of folk singers and musicians from all parts of the country as well as puppeteers will be performing during stays at various Railway Stations.
The Azadi train is under preparations at Railway Carriage Factory Islamabad comprising of five galleries and six floats to start its journey a couple of days before August 14.
The Special Azadi Train would highlight the aspects of Freedom Movement, sacrifices of Armed Forces for the defense of the country and cultural heritage of all the regions, officials of Rawalpindi Carriage Factory told the state-run news agency.
PNCA said that a group artists would hold folk musical shows during stay at various Railway Stations across the country.
The artists of Lok Virsa will also perform in the cultural shows to be held as part of Azadi Train activities.
An official of Pakistan Railways said that the train will begin its journey from Margalla Railway Station in Islamabad, adding that Federal Ministers for Railways likely to inaugurate the train.
The train depicts the cultures of Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan and Jammu and Kashmir, as well as various projects carried out by the present government.
Artisans from Rawalpindi and Islamabad participated in preparing the six floats that represent the country’s cultural heritage.
