ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Speaker National Assembly Raja Pervez Ashraf on Thursday issued a ruling to reverse the illegal and unconstitutional decision of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) to ban the celebration of Holi in educational institutions.
While taking notice regarding the ban imposed by HEC on Holi celebration in educational institutions, the NA Speaker cited the Objective Resolution and the Constitution of Pakistan (1973), which acknowledge the rights of minorities and ensure freedom for all religious sects to practice their religious activities.
The Speaker said that the Parliament will actively pursue the matter.

In his speech, the Member National Assembly Ramesh Lal expressed profound sorrow on the ban imposed by the HEC on the celebration of Holi in the Universities.
Ramesh Lal appealed the Speaker National Assembly to take notice regarding the matter.
The MNA Shahida Rahmani also condemned the notification issued by the HEC.
“We are celebrating the 50th Golden Jubilee of the Constitution of Pakistan and this Constitution gives everyone the right to live together and celebrate freely regardless of caste, color and race,” she said.
Shahida Rahmani said that the festival of Holi is part of the Sindh culture which is celebrated with great enthusiasm.
“Banning it is reprehensible. We demand that strict action be taken against him,” the lawmaker said.
