KARACHI: Interior minister Rehman Malik said on Monday that banned terror outfit Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ) was involved in Karachi blast that left at least 45 people dead and 150 others were injured on Sunday evening, Dispatch News Desk (DND) reported.

Talking to media persons at a private hospital after he met with the victims of Abbas Town tragic blast, Malik accused the Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) to have an electoral alliance with the LeJ, which he said, had its headquarters in Punjab.

Malik said that action needed to be taken against terrorists in Punjab if country had to be cleared from menace of terrorism.

The federal interior minister said that the terrorist forces wanted to delay the upcoming elections. He claimed that the backbone of terrorists has been broken and that 30 activists of the LeJ were apprehended in Karachi alone.
