ISLAMABAD: Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal has said the land acquisition for Bhasha Dam must be completed by December 2013 to avoid cost increase.

He was addressing a meeting of sub-committee constituted by National Economic Council (NEC) to review Public Sector Development Programme 2013-14.

   

The Minister asked chairman WAPDA to come up with a policy for run of the river small projects to be opened for private sector investment in order to tap the hydroelectric potential of Azad Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan.

Ahsan Iqbal also directed to complete Lowari Tunnel as earlier as possible.He also ordered to prioritise the projects which link Gwadar port to rest of the country.

The meeting was attended by Chief Ministers Khyber Pakhtunkhwa‚ Balochistan‚ Gilgit Baltistan‚ Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and representatives of chief ministers of Punjab and Sindh.
