HeadlinesLahore High Court disposes of President's dual office case

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday disposed of President’s dual offices case after the federation’s lawyer apprised that there is no political activity going on in the Presidency.

A five-member bench headed by Chief Justice LHC Umar Ata Bandial was hearing the contempt of court petition against President Zardari for his political activities and holding dual office (PPP co-chairperson).

The federation’s lawyer Waseem Sajjad informed the bench that President Asif Ali Zardari has given up the office of co-chairperson of the party. He also informed that now no political activity is going on in the Presidency.

Waseem Sajjad assured that the President will remain neutral and the Presidency will not be used for any political activity.

The LHC Chief Justice appreciated the action and said it was encouraging that the President has complied with the Court’s directive and later disposed of the case.
