PESHAWAR, Pakistan: As many as 10 people including Children were killed when a passenger pickup ran over a landmine in Gudar area of Kurram agency on Tuesday morning.

Sources said that the incident also caused injuries to eight other people including two census workers.

   

They said that the pickup was on its way to Sadda from Gudar when it struck the landmine, adding that injured were transported to the Civil Hospital Sadda.

Meanwhile, Pakistan army sent a Special MI-17 Helicopter to Parachinar for evacuation of injured to Peshawar, according to the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).

In a statement, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif strongly condemned the landmine blast in Kurram agency, and expressed deep grief over the loss of precious lives and prayed for the blessing of departed souls.

The prime minister directed relevant authorities to extend maximum support for treatment of the injured. He also expressed sympathies with the bereaved families.

Separately, the Interior Minister Nisar Ali Khan and the Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif also expressed grief and sorrow over loss of precious lives in Kurram landmine blast.
