TourismKPK govt will hand over all official rest houses to Tourism Corporation

PESHAWAR, Pakistan: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Friday told that the provincial government has decided the handing over of all rest houses established by different provincial departments to Tourism Corporation of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (TCKP).

This was told by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Senior Minister for Local Government & Rural Development (LG&RD) while responding to a question of Amna Sardar MPA of PML-N regarding official guest houses, Dak Bungalows and circuit houses of the provincial government in district Abbottabad.

In the written answer to the question, the provincial government had acknowledged the presence of official rest houses, dak bungalows and circuit houses by different departments.

The answer given by the administration department was specified to 12-room KPK House, which is operated by it where members of the provincial assembly and provincial ministers are entitled for free day accommodation while other senior government officials are issued special stay permit for maximum period of 3 days and they have to pay on daily basis.

The Senior Minister told the house that different departments also have their official rest houses, saying the coalition government was interested in their continuation and their operation through Tourism Department. He said that except CM House and Governor House all other rest houses have been handed over to Tourism Department.

He said that Tourism Corporation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (TCKP) will operate them on commercial basis and booking of these rest houses will now be made online. He said that the handing over of the rest houses has increased their revenue.

He said that 70 percent the revenue earned by rest houses will be given to the concerned department while the remaining will be spent on their maintenance.

To a question regarding up-gradation of junior and senior clerks of the Departments of Communication & Works (C&W) and Irrigation, Finance Minister Muzaffar Said said that all employees of Grade 1 to 5 have already been given two steps up-gradation.

He said that the provincial government has also constituted another committee headed by Chief Secretary, which will consider the up-gradation of other employees. He said that for this purpose the committee will soon convene its meeting.

Meanwhile, the question of the Mufti Said Janan of JUI-F regarding irregularities in the distribution of assistance to TDPs from Waziristan was referred to the Standing Committee concerned.
