PESHAWAR, Pakistan: A meeting of Khyber Pakhtuknkhwa Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP) chaired by Additional Chief Secretary Muhammad Azam Khan here Friday approved 35 uplift projects with an estimated cost of Rs. 54933.733 millions and deferred seven projects due to inadequate designs.

The meeting was attended by its members and respective administrative Secretaries. The forum considered 42 projects of sectors including Energy and Power, Irrigation, Elementary and Secondary Education, Higher Education, Sports and Tourism, Finance, Local Government, Law and Justice, Housing, Health, Social Welfare, DWSS, Roads and Bridges, Urban Development and Industries Departments for the uplift of the province.

   

The approved projects included construction of Koto HPP, Development of Renewable Energy in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Construction of 356 mini and micro Hydro Power stations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (Total capacity 35.6 MW), Technical Lab and Launching of Household survey for assessment of out of school children.

In Water sector, approved projects were construction of Gul Dheri Dam Prject District Nowshera, construction of Jhangra Dam Project, District Abbottabad, construction and improvement of Canal Patrol Roads along Warsak and Peshawar Canals Systems, providing flood protection works in different nullahs in District Dir Lower, flood protection works for protection of villages and agricultural lands from floods in rivers and local nullahs in District Lakki Marwat.

Forum approved Higher Education projects including establishment of GGDC Pharpur D.I Khan, establishment of GDC Shakardara Kohat, expansion and renovation of Govt. Colleges for commerce and Management Science Lakki Marwat, establishment of Government Degree Colleges in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on need basis, purchase of furniture, machinery, equipments and books etc. for Govt. colleges.

Sports sector projects were construction of Hostel and office accommodation of coaches at Sports Complex D.I Khan (PSDP Devolved projects), establishment of Squash Complex at Peshawar. In the Finance sector only approved project was construction and renovation of Treasury and District Accounts Offices in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Other projects included improvement of internal Road at Ghazikot Township Scheme in Mansehra, provision for contractors accrued liabilities for C&W Mardan, Haripur and Shangla, feasibility study and construction of Headquarters for Counter Terrorism Department at District Nowshera, feasibility study and construction of Central Prison D.I.Khan on existing site, feasibility study for assessment of residential requirements, master planning and designing of judicial complexes in selected districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, feasibility study for assessment of residential requirements of honorable judges of PHC, acquisition of land for construction of judicial complexes with allied facilities in Swat, Tank and Kohat, detail planning and designing of sport city and model town Peshawar at Urmar Maira, establishment of Gaju Khan Medical College, Swabi, payment of contractor’s liabilities and purchase of equipment for hepatitis center (former Burn Centre), Nishtarabad, Peshawar, improvement, rehabilitation and renovation and beautification in medical teaching institutes, improvement and standardization of DHQ hospital in Nowshera, construction of Social Welfare Complex at District Bannu, WSS schemes and distribution work in PK-41 District Karak, WSS schemes and distribution work in PK-82 District Swat, establishment of project directorate for Swat Motorway, District Peshawar, construction of RCC Pre-Cast Girder Bridge over Barandu Khwar PK-78 District Buner.
