Kashmiris observe ‘black day’ today

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Kashmiri people are observing ‘black day’ on Monday to condemn the Indian invasion of Kashmir amid a complete shutdown in the valley and rallies in world capitals.

It was on October 27 in 1947 when the Indian troops invaded Jammu and Kashmir and occupied it in total violation of the partition plan of the subcontinent and against the aspirations of the Kashmiris.

The black day is being observed by Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control (LoC) and the world today to convey to the world that India has occupied Jammu and Kashmir against their will.

The call for the shutdown was given by the All Parties Hurriyet Conference Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Hurriyet leaders including Syed Ali Gilani, Shabbir Ahmed Shah and Muhammad Yasin Malik and supported by other pro-freedom organizations and the High Court Bar Association of the occupied territory.

The protest rallies and demonstrations are being held at all districts and tehsil headquarters in Azad Kashmir to mark the day. Likewise, a protest demonstration is being held at district complex in Muzaffarabad under the auspices of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Cell.

The participants of the demonstration are holding a rally up to UN Military Observer Mission to hand over a protest memorandum calling upon the world body to take serious notice of state terrorism in occupied Kashmir and play its due role for resolving the Kashmir issue.
