- Says resistance of Kashmiris is a continuation of Karbala
ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Mushaal Hussein Mullick, the wife of illegally detained Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Muhammad Yasin Malik, has come down hard on Indian police for subjecting dozens of mourners to brutal torture, besides thrashing journalists who were performing their professional duties in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
Mushaal, who is also the Chairperson of Peace and Culture Organization, in her statement, said that the use of such brutal and inhuman force against innocent mourners and journalists has further exposed the ugly face of the fascist junta.
She flayed the fascist Hindutva regime for not allowing Muharram procession in the occupied territory for the last over 30 years.
Mushaal said that there has been an official ban on Muharram processions in IIOJK since 1989 because India is well-aware of the fact that the ‘Battle of Karbala’ teaches the lesson of resistance against oppression and occupation and sympathy with the oppressed.
That is why she said that India’s ban on mourning processions in Muharram in IIOJK mutated into pro-freedom marches. India authorities imposed curfew all over the areas and cordoned off main routes with concertina wire, besides massive security deployment at various important points.
Mushaal slammed New Delhi over the extra-judicial killing of Kashmiri people in “fake encounters” and imposition of restrictions on the religious gathering of Muharram and processions in the occupied valley.
She said that the long communications blockade and Indian attempts to muzzle the media, including targeted campaigns against Kashmiri male and female journalists, are a further illustration of how the brutalization of Kashmiris continues to accentuate under the RSS-BJP regime.
“Every day is Ashura for us. Every area is Karbala in IIOJK,” she said and added that ‘Muharram never ended for Kashmiris’.
She said that the supreme sacrifice of Imam I Hussain (RA) and his family at the barren land of Karbala is a glorious page of Islamic history that will always remain a source of inspiration for all those who stand against tyranny and oppression. The resistance of the people of Kashmir is also a continuation of Karbala, she said, adding that this is the main lesson from Karbala that despite all hardships true followers of Imam I Hussain (RA) should never bow before tyrants and should never ever side with those who are oppressing fellow humans.
The Hurriyat reiterated that Imam Hussain(RA) chose the way of resistance, sacrificed his life and his family, and thus became a symbol of resistance and truth for all times and generations to come.
The Chairperson said that the tragedy of Karbala has become a key motif for Kashmiris to articulate their suffering. “Kashmir today, is Karbala more than ever either in its grief, in its vast tragedy or in its lonely but resolute defiance,” the Hurriyat leader maintained.
She lamented that the houses of Kashmiri people were burned, children were slaughtered and their eyes were stolen but even then the world observed a criminal silence of these war crimes.
Moreover, Mushaal castigated the Indian fascist regime led by Narendra Modi for ill-treating the detained Hurriyat leaders and activists, languishing in different jails.
She expressed optimism that soon the brave Kashmiri freedom fighters would break the shackles of Indian slavery.
