New Delhi/Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir administration (read as Indian Occupied Kashmir) has closed down seven government commissions, including those dealing with human rights issues, reports The Wire India.

According to thewire, commissions including     Jammu and Kashmir State Human Rights Commission (SHRC), State Information Commission (SIC), State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (SCDRC), State Electricity Regulatory Commission (SERC), State Commission for Protection of Women and Child Rights (SCPWCR), State Commission for Persons with Disabilities (SCPwD) and State Accountability Commission (SAC) have asked to cease their working send all report to government departments.

In an official order issued by the General Administration Department (Services and General Administration Department) directed that commissions would stop to work with effect from October 31, 2019.

The GAD order asked the secretaries of the seven commissions to handover the possession of the buildings housing their respective offices, along with furniture and electronic gadgets, to the director of the estates department.

It is pertinent to mention that Human Rights organizations of India on Thursday said that closure of Human Rights Commission in Kashmir was a preemptive move to avoid cases of human rights abuses those could go to Commission against Indian Army and other law enforcing agencies for their brutal acts they committed in valley during total shutdown and communication blackout of the valley since August , 2019.
