JI announces launch of anti-privatization movement

LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has announced to launch an anti-privatization movement across the country, saying that the privatization will render as many as 0.6 million people jobless.

In his address to a seminar under the aegis of JI at Mansurah in Lahore, the JI Ameer Syed Munawar Hassan condemned the federal government policy of privatization and said that the privatization was the agenda of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank.

The JI Ameer said that the organizations which were privatized in the past didn’t benefit the country and the nation in anyway.

Meanwhile, it was decided in the seminar that a national committee on anti-privatization would be formed.

The seminar was also attended by the leaders of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), other political parties and the labour organizations.
