Security forces foil terrorist attack in Lahore

LAHORE: The security forces foiled an attack at Jamia Manzoor Islamia, a popular Madrisa of Bravlivs where around 1000 students are residing in Lahore after they arrested a suspect outside the religious seminary and recovered maps of sensitive locations from his possession on Tuesday. According to police sources the suspect, identified as Salman is a resident of Swabi during preliminary investigations informed police that he was sent by an outfit of Taliban of  Mohmand agency to strike Shia and Bralvi religious establishments to create sectarian violence in Punjab province. Maulana Peer Saifullah Khalid is the Principal of Jamia Manzoor ul islamia Lahore . He is known as Hazrat Maulana Peer Saifullah Khalid.

Salman said that his leaders in Mohmand agency also assigned him the task to create ethnic differences.

However, the outlawed Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (PPP) Mohmand Agency leader Umer Khalid Kharasani told media that his group did not send Usman to attack the religious seminary.

Kharasani said that the accused himself confessed that he was sent by an organization.

On the sidelines of Bahrain International Airshow, Commander of Ninth Air Force (US Air Forces Central Command — AFCENT), Lieutenant General Derek France called on Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force. The Air Chief reiterated his resolve to further enhance the existing bilateral cooperation between the two strategic partners. Commander AFCENT appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in promoting regional peace and vowed to enhance cooperation in the fields of joint training, mutual exercises and military to military collaboration. In a separate meeting, Chief of the Air Staff also called on Field Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force.
