ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Islamabad Police have requested Interior Ministry to provide all necessary logistic support to it for special duties of personnel on November 2 at expected sit-in of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

According to the police sources, Interior Ministry has been formally requested through a letter to contact the governments of Punjab and Sindh for logistic support to perform special duties at Islamabad on November 2.

   

Islamabad police have sought 20 prison vans and 10 armoured personnel carrier (APCs) from the Punjab government during expected protest of PTI while the Sindh government has been requested to provide 20 prison vans and 10 APCs.

Police sources said that 600 personnel of Frontier Constabulary (FC) have arrived in Islamabad for the security of the city while contingents from Punjab police will also reach Islamabad soon.

He said the sole purpose is to ensure effective security of the city which is the prime responsibility of the law enforcement agencies.

Meanwhile, District Magistrate Islamabad Mushtaq Ahmed has also issued a notification to impose section 144 in the city. It would be effective for two months and gathering of five or more than five persons would be prohibited in the city.
