IranIran, six world powers begin fresh nuclear talks in Geneva

GENEVA: A new round of talks between Iran and the United States‚ Russia‚ China‚ France‚ Britain and Germany on Tehran’s nuclear energy program began in Geneva on Tuesday.

The six world major powers want Iran to allay concerns that it is developing nuclear weapons while Iran says its program is peaceful and seeks relief from international sanctions.

The two-day talks are being held for the first time since Iranian President Hassan Rouhani took office, and who has promised to lead a diplomatic effort to get the sanctions eased.

But officials from the so-called P5+1 nations have expressed the need for Iran to prove its sincerity through concrete steps before that will happen.
