QUETTA: The scorching summer dispelled with the first spell of rain here in the Provincial capital and its suburbs on Friday and ushered pleasant weather to let fasting masses heave a sigh of relief.

   

According to MET office the rain spell that started late on Friday is expected to linger on for the next 24 hours with heavy downpours in districts Khuzdar, Sibi and Musakhel.

The torrential rains, however, exposed the performance of the metropolitan administration viz., spilling over drains and flooding of busy roads – terribly disrupting the flow of traffic.

With the prediction of more rains ahead, coupled with soaring rush for Eid shopping, the Civic authorities need a prompt and practicable plan to mitigate masses sufferings.

An official in the Provincial Directorate of Public Relations informed that an emergency cell has already been set up in the office to coordinate with concerned departments in case torrential rains pose any alarming threat.
