RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has killed one Pakistani civilian and injured three others when its personnel resorted to unprovoked Indian firing at the Line of Control (LoC), the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Saturday.

In a statement, the ISPR said that the incident of firing by the Indian troops took place in Nakyal sector of Azad Kashmir’s Kotli district.

It said that the deceased Muhammad Shafi belonged to village Kanthi Gala while the injured persons were named as Imran, Shahpal and Mistri Rasheed.

“Due to Indian unprovoked firing in Nikial Sec (Kotli) a civilian Muhammad Shafi resident of village Kanthi Gala embraced shahadat and 3 x Civilians Imran, Shahpal and Mistri Rasheed were injured,” the ISPR statement said.

The ISPR said that Pakistani troops are effectively responding to the Indian firing.

Earlier on Friday, a 42-year-old woman Muneera Akhtar was killed and three others including her husband Muhammad Azam and two daughters Nasreen and Zeenat severely injured when a mortar shell fired by the BSF hit their house in Nezapir sector of Rawalakot.

The latest incidents of cross border firing occurred when the neighboring were celebrating their respective Independence days on August 14 and 15.

The leaders of the two nations Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Prime Minister Narendra Modi also felicitated each other on their respective Independence days through letters.
