Monitoring Desk: Recent investigations in Iran have raised new and deep concerns about Indian software companies, which, according to the investigation, were providing information to Israel with backdoor access to sensitive Iranian institutions.

According to the investigations, Israel obtained important digital information from them with the help of software companies. Based on this information, Israel targeted Iranian nuclear scientists

According to a report by South Asia Index (@SouthAsiaIndex), Iranian authorities are closely examining the role of these Indian companies, which were instrumental in creating cracks in Iran’s security infrastructure.

Indian support to Israel exposed

According to the report, several important institutions in Iran, including airports and passport offices, are using Indian-made software. It is feared that this same software provided Israeli intelligence agencies with important information about sensitive sites, scientists, and installations in Iran.

According to Australian journalist and host of the biggest live show on X, Mario Nafel, Iranian authorities are closely examining the role of Indian companies that have been involved in providing sensitive data about scientists and key installations. He says that the joint investigation also proved that Indian coders were not only stealing data but also, in some cases, cyber-controlling Iranian military systems, which indicates a serious security threat.

This revelation confirms that the war between Israel and Iran has moved beyond the traditional battlefield and into cyberspace. Now this front is not limited to fighter jets, drones and bombs, but cyber-attacks, digital infiltration, and theft of confidential information have also become an important part of this war.

Iranian media have described these digital breaches not only as a threat to national security but also raised serious questions about Iran’s cyber sovereignty.

According to IT experts, Iran urgently needs to re-evaluate its digital infrastructure and increase its reliance on local software to avoid any kind of external interference in the future.

Over the past two decades, India has used the global software industry as a means of infiltrating other countries, especially the Gulf countries, due to which the Gulf countries and Iran have become heavily dependent on Indian software and programmers for their technical needs.

According to sources, these Indian programmers have also been in contact with external powers through the Starlink network, which has raised further questions about their role.

India’s role has been consistently suspect. The interference of Indian technology companies in Iran is a link in this chain, which reflects a new and dangerous form of Indian state aggression in South Asia.

It may be mentioned that Iran sent over 4,500 Indian citizens back home in the last 15 days, and their “valid visas” have been declared “expired” till further notice.

Sources confirmed that Iran, even during Israeli attacks, started deporting Indians by sending them to Turkmenistan via road link, as there was credible information available with Iranian intelligence networking that “several Indians” were involved in spying for Israel.

According to available information, at least 13 Indian citizens had been arrested for spying that was linked to the breach of security of Iran and Israeli attacks on the Iranian top leadership. The involvement of Indian citizens in Iran had also been established in an explosion in Bandar Abbas, which took place on April 28, 2025, causing the loss of 70 lives and injuries to hundreds. Sources said that “some Indian businessmen and traders” had been visiting this area for business purposes, and their involvement could not be ruled out in this event, which was a kind of act of terrorism inside Iran. The explosion was so intense that it was felt up to 50 km away, causing significant structural damage and prompting a temporary suspension of port operations.

A comprehensive investigation was conducted to determine the exact cause of the explosion that directed fingers towards “some Indian traders/businessmen visiting the area and getting information about the storage”.

According to Iran’s Khuzestan Prosecutor’s Office, 54 people accused of espionage and subversive activities allegedly linked to Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency were under prosecution who were involved in supporting, gathering information for the enemy, propagandizing against the regime, as well as spreading falsehoods and rumors to damage the country’s internal security and disrupt the psychological security of society. Thirteen of them are Indians, sources claimed. Since Iran enjoys cordial relations with the Indian government therefore Iran has not yet shared “citizenship of foreigners (Indians) who had been arrested for espionage.

New Delhi confirmed that “over 4,400 Indian nationals had reached India” so far in 14 flights since June 18. The figure has been confirmed by MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, who stated that from Iran, so far evacuated 3,426 Indian nationals and 11 OCI (Overseas Citizens of India) cardholders had reached India. One Iranian woman, who is the wife of an Indian national, has also been sent to India. Indian citizens were immediately sent out of Iran to neighboring countries, even when Iran was under attack, after getting information that a security breach in Iran was linked to the presence of Indian citizens. Iran sent thousands of Indians to Yerevan in Armenia and Ashgabat in Turkmenistan by road and informed the Indian government about the situation.
